Neighbourhood Watch

The former Mayor of HONDON de las NIEVES,  D. Victoriano Sanchez Botella, agreed in 2009 to the setting up of a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, as requested by the residents of ‘La Montañosa’.

La Montañosa NHW “Team” has a Lead Coordinator and a number of Area Coordinators covering the ten areas. It is important for members to make themselves aware of the area they live in and who their Coordinator contact is.

Street Signs are erected at the entrance of La Montañosa and throughout the urbanisation.

Membership Packs have been produced containing relevant forms and advice on how to report/record an incident plus other useful information notes, which are self explanatory. Also a ceramic tile with the NHW logo to fix on the members outside wall or gate column.

Membership Fee to the NHW scheme will be 20 Euros as a one-off joining fee per household and will include the Membership Pack (see ➡️ or ⬇️), a ceramic tile and a contribution towards street signs, printing and other running costs. Also included is a UV pen to mark your valuables.

It should be noted that all coordinators give their time and facilities free of any charge.

The scheme was established in early 2009 and has the full cooperation from the Town Hall and support of the Local Police.

Whilst we cannot guarantee to stop crime, there is evidence that a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme can reduce crime by working together and with the Local Police and Guardia Civil. Displaying the ‘NHW Tile’ at the front of your villa can help deter the criminal.

To maximise the goals of the NHW scheme and deter the criminal, the scheme requires as many participants as possible, for you to become a member is most important to the schemes success and helping to make living in the Hondon Valley a much safer and friendlier place!
